How to Price Window Cleaning

Window cleaning is priced per window or per pane, with height, screens and a minimum visit fee on top. Here are the published rates, what moves a quote, and a worked example.

Typical prices for window cleaning

These are consumer-facing figures from 2026 cost guides, not rules. They show where the market sits so you can tell whether your price is far above or below it.

What is pricedPublished 2026 range
Interior only or exterior only, per window (Angi)$4 – $8
Interior and exterior, per window (HomeGuide)$8 – $16
Per pane (several guides)$4 – $8
Windows above the second floor, per window (HomeGuide)$10 – $40
Large picture windows, per window (Angi, New York example)$15 – $25
Screens (HomeGuide)$2 – $5 per screen
Tracks and sills (HomeGuide)$1 – $3 per window
Minimum service charge (Angi / HomeGuide)$75 – $150 / $100 – $250
Hourly rate (Thumbtack)$25 – $100, average $50
Whole-house visit, 16–20 windows (Thumbtack)$187 – $368

Angi also lists labor at $10 to $15 per hour for an independent cleaner, which is far below Thumbtack's $50 average hourly rate; sources disagree, so compare a few and check local competitors. Rates run higher in urban and high-cost areas.

Count the windows and panes

Walk the whole house and count windows, not just rooms. Note how many are multi-pane (French or colonial grid windows may bill per pane), which are above the second floor, and which are large picture windows or glass doors. Thumbtack's example treats a double-hung window as two windows at $8 each, and a five-pane window at $4 per pane as $20, so be clear whether your price is per window or per pane.

What moves the price

Check the price against your costs

Estimate how long the house takes, multiply by your crew's hourly cost, then add fuel, supplies and overhead. A per-window price is only safe if it beats that number with margin. See how to calculate labor cost and your overhead rate.

Set a minimum charge

Five windows still need the drive, setup and a ladder. Angi shows minimums of $75 to $150 and HomeGuide $100 to $250. Set yours from your hourly cost times the real time a small job takes, and show it as its own line.

A worked quote

One two-story house, interior and exterior, 20 windows with screens, using example rates (yours will differ):

16 ground-floor windows, inside and out, 16 × $10$160.00
4 second-floor windows, inside and out, 4 × $20$80.00
Screens removed, washed and replaced, 20 × $3$60.00
Total$300.00

Check it against the market: $10 per ground-floor window is inside HomeGuide's $8 to $16, $20 for upper windows is inside its $10 to $40, and $3 per screen is inside $2 to $5. The $300 total clears the published minimum charges ($75 to $250) and sits inside Thumbtack's $187 to $368 for 16 to 20 windows. These figures are examples, not recommended prices.
