Material Waste Calculator

Measured area is not what you order. Cuts, breakage and mistakes eat material. Enter your measured quantity and a waste factor to see how much to buy and what it costs. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is stored or sent.

How it works

Quantity to order = measured × (1 + waste%). Waste cost = extra units × unit cost. Example: 1,200 sq ft × 1.10 = 1,320 sq ft; the 120 extra sq ft at $2.50 = $300.00; total material cost $3,300.00. Typical waste varies by material and layout, so check the manufacturer's guidance and round up to whole packs or boxes.

Next step: put the total into the job price calculator or the markup & margin calculator.
